Dear fellow  human beings,

Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences is 50 years old. This marks half a century of enthusiasm, scientific curiosity and progress, which we look back on with pride and gratitude.

The fact that Bremerhaven is a university city is by no means a matter of course. After the university was founded on 1 September 1975, there were doubts as to whether such an institution was sensible and necessary in the seaside city. It is thanks to the great commitment and protests of university members and committed citizens at the time that Bremerhaven continues to attract numerous young professionals to the region every year. The university has developed into a centre of knowledge and research that has gained recognition far beyond the borders of Bremerhaven, true to the motto ‘Broadening horizons’.

Our anniversary is not just an opportunity for us to look back. We don't want to rest on the laurels of the past, but look ahead to many more decades of shaping the development of the region with innovative ideas and enthusiasm.

We would like to invite you to celebrate with us this year. You can get to know our degree programmes and research activities and experience our enthusiasm for science at various small and large events. You can also look forward to one or two cultural highlights.
