Sustainable University
Climate protection is one of the greatest global challenges. The four public universities in the state of Bremen also want to make their contribution. They have therefore drawn up climate protection concepts, which they are continuously working on implementing. The current concept at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences is currently being updated in a participatory process. In addition, a commission is developing a sustainability strategy that will encompass all four dimensions of sustainability: economic, ecological, social and cultural sustainability.
This is what happens on our campus
Solar systems are to cover a large part of the buildings' electricity requirements in future
Photovoltaic systems on the roofs of many university buildings convert the sun's rays into energy.Cycle to the university!
The university supports cycling students and staff with a self-help workshop, bicycle parking spaces, which are lockable in some cases, and many other activities. No chance for unnecessary energy guzzlers
Sourcing electricity from renewable energies makes sense. It makes even more sense to consistently reduce energy consumption. This is done by the university's energy controlling department.Turning people into comrades-in-arms
Numerous events such as the ‘Climate Academy’ lecture series and the ‘Climate Festival’ raise awareness of the need to use resources sparingly.University members favour reusable packaging
Whether it's cafeteria crockery, drinks packaging or recycling systems - together we avoid waste.
Get on your bike! Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences supports cycling students and staff
Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences is actively committed to environmentally friendly mobility and has therefore created an extensive bicycle infrastructure. On our campus, we have a ‘BikeBox’ as a self-help workshop, covered bicycle shelters and e-bike charging stations. These measures not only help to reduce CO₂ emissions, but also promote the health and well-being of our university community. Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences is committed to promoting sustainable mobility and aims to be a positive example of environmentally conscious behaviour. Together, we can have a positive impact on our surroundings and make our university a more sustainable place.
